People with BPD will often report that at the beginning of a new romantic relationship they put their new partner “on a pedestal” and sometimes feel they have found their perfect match, a soul mate who will rescue them from their emotional pain. So you're dating a girl with BPD eh? I know every article on the internet tells you to run from borderline women, but I do things differently around these parts.

If she is, and her emotions are erratic go to couples therapy with her and talk to her about her behavior. Type keyword s to search. Historically, this has never done anything to preserve the relationship.

I think the onus is on us, the sufferers of BPD to prove them otherwise through our positive behavior. Being able to maintain strong, definitive, consistent boundaries is important, and getting the support of a mental health counselor or clinical psychologist will help you maintain your health so you can be there for your loved one in the most productive manner possible. This might increase if you do not emotionally respond to them; that is, if you do not hop on their emotional rollercoaster and get upset as well. My ex used to compare me to a werewolf, heh.

And all the while I have my own issues, too. I do love her unconditionally… Like I would love a little child. To think of a future trying to always side step his hostility only to be adored a week later, is too much drama. It was true. We really cant help it.
